Avoid morning flights the day the cruise ends, especially out of LAX

LAX flights before 9 AM are not happening. Mid or Late morning flights can work if you wake up early.
Traffic in the LAX terminal area is usually horrendous (speaking as an LA local). Even if you don’t hit traffic going to LAX (that’s a big if), you could be stuck in the terminal area for 20 minutes, depending on which terminal your flight departs from.
An exception for flying out of Long Beach Airport (LGB), which is closer to the port and doesn’t have the terminal traffic issues of LAX.

Flight & hotel planning is included free if you booked your cruise with JustJoeyTravels!

Even if you want to make the booking by yourself, I’ll research and plan out the best flights and hotel options specifically for you. 👦🏻

🛳️ Disembarkation Timeline

The ship will dock back around 5 AM to 6 AM.
Disembarkation will start around 7 AM (this may vary).
Everyone should be off the ship by around 10:30 AM.

🚦 Expect Traffic

Most cruisers (if they didn’t drive) head straight to the airport right after getting off a cruise, so expect lot of people and traffic as thousands of people all try to get a ride and leave the cruise port at the same time.
If you’re in no rush - perhaps you’re flying out in the afternoon or later - I recommend disembarking after most of the other cruisers, closer to around 9am.
If you want to get off the ship ASAP, be prepared to get up extra early and start lining up around 6am or so.

🚕 Ground Transportation

I generally recommend a ride-share service (Lyft/Uber).
Although cruise lines usually do not offer any shuttle services at this port, there are some private companies that offer so-called “shuttles”, though I don’t see the advantage over a Lyft or Uber unless you need a shuttle-size vehicle.
