I actually think room service is oft-ignored and underrated on a cruise, especially on an Atlantis charter. There’s always a little bit of subliminal pressure to constantly be “out and about” and eating privately in your own cabin is the antithesis of that. People even get dunked on for going to the buffet. As if where you eat is anyone else’s business, bitch please 💅
Anyway...ShipEats is what Virgin calls room service. Here’s what you need to know:
Available 24/7
Just like on most other cruise lines, room service is available 24/7, expect on disembarkation day.
Delivery Charge
Each order has a $10 delivery fee. However, if your order includes paid items totaling $10 or more, the delivery fee will be waived. The perfect excuse to order a drink or dessert.
Suite guests (RockStar and Mega RockStars) always get free delivery.
Breakfast Pre-Order
You can pre-order your breakfast for the next morning. Just put it in by 2am.
Travel-friendly packaging
You’d typically expect room service to be served on large plates on a massive tray, but Virgin will send your food in compact, travel-friendly containers in a bag, which can hang on your cabin door handle if you happen to be in the bathroom when the food arrives (though usually they will knock when they arrive and try to hand the food to you directly). This also makes it a lot easier to pack everything up after you’re done.
